1. Introduction

These Terms of Service govern your use of MatterIn, the enquiry visibility platform for law firms operated by MatterIn. By accessing or using MatterIn, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

  • "Content" means all data, documents, and information uploaded, stored, or processed through the Service.
  • "Firm" means the law firm or legal organisation that holds the subscription.

3. Use of the Service

MatterIn grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for lawful business purposes related to the management of client enquiries.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its related systems;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service without written consent;
  • Upload, store, or transmit any content that is defamatory, offensive, or infringes third-party rights.

4. Account Registration and Security

To use the Service, you must register for an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use or security breach.

5. Data and Confidentiality

You retain ownership of all Content you submit to the Service. MatterIn will handle your Content in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

MatterIn agrees to maintain the confidentiality of your Content and will not disclose it to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service or as required by law.

6. Subscription and Payment

Access to the Service is provided on a subscription basis. Fees are set out in your order form or as otherwise agreed in writing. All fees are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

Subscriptions automatically renew for successive periods unless terminated in accordance with these terms. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the Service, including software, designs, logos, and documentation, are owned by MatterIn or its licensors. Nothing in these terms grants you any rights in such intellectual property except the limited licence set out in section 3.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatterIn shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

MatterIn's total liability for any claim arising under these terms shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to MatterIn in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Termination

MatterIn may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these terms or if required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and MatterIn may delete your Content in accordance with our data retention policies.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

MatterIn reserves the right to update or modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be notified to you at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
